Mastering allows engineers to put the final production gloss on their tracks. By providing slight EQ and compression, engineers are able to ensure when a track is played on a variety of sound systems, the sonic characteristics remain consistent. Mastering normally requires an abundance of expensive outboard gear, however these high quality plug-ins make it possible to add that professional finish for a fraction of the cost.
