The Mapex Black Panther Nucleus snare drum utilizes a thin maple/walnut/maple hybrid shell design to create a workhorse worthy of any drummer's collection. The straight shell orientation delivers a wide tuning range that is matched with the 5.5" shell depth for an increased snap and delivery. The Soniclear bearing edge allows the drumhead to sit flatter on the shell, making better contact. The result is a stronger and deeper fundamental pitch, effortless and consistent tuning, and a significantly expanded tuning range. Ghost notes and press roles play like a dream with this design. The ten lug configuration helps dial in your favorite sound effortlessly while the Sonic Saver hoops bring your rimshots to life.

Compeletely redesigned, the Mapex Black Panther Snare Drum Line has undergone some serious upgrades.  Borrowing from the renegade Design Lab series snare drums, there has been some trickle down features that are now found on these new drums, like the Design Lab Air Flow Venting, and the Soniclear Snare Beds to provide enhanced sensitivity.  All bearing edges have the Soniclear edge for easier tuning and head seating, and the the Sonic Saver Hoops are standard on all drums.  

The Nucleus represents the center, when you need to drive the groove right down the middle. The middlemost plies are walnut providing a slightly organic character between the inner and outer layer of classic maple.
